Box Office Forecast - Aug 15

Dark Knight is powering through its fourth week still on top of the charts, but faces stiff competition from new releases Tropic Thunder and Star Wars: Clone Wars over the weekend.

The latest Batman flick has garnered over $450 million to date and has its batarang sights set on the seemingly unsinkable Titanic and its $600 million-plus bounty. While starting out far stronger than the James Cameron-directed period piece, Dark Knight will be hard-pressed to match its staying power, as Titanic stood strong at the box office for an unprecedented 10 month span.

The #1 contender to take down Dark Knight this weekend is the satirical Hollywood war flick Tropic Thunder, which along with last weeks Pineapple Express features some of the so-called new generation of Comedians, the likes of which equals sizeable money at the box office.

Also coming out this weekend is Star Wars: Clone Wars, but the bad buzz surrounding this project may make this the first Star Wars film to bomb at the box office.

We’ll see how the weekend turns out.

Weekend Box Office Aug 1st

For the third week in a row the box office belonged to The Dark Knight. Not only did it break Spidey's 3 day record it is well on it's way to breaking the huge one that Titanic has been holding on to for 10 years now.

So far The Dark Knight has been able to capture $393.8 million at the box office. This is amazing considering on day 17 of it's release Titanic only made $157.4 million.

Only time will tell in the coming weeks how far it will go……..but from the looks of it now Titantic is about to be dethroned.

Here is the rundown of this weekend top 5

#1 The Dark Knight $42.6 million

#2 The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor $40.4 million

#3 Step Brothers $16.5 million

#4 Mamma Mia $12.6 million

#5 Journey to the Center of the Earth $6.6 million

Weekend Box Office July 18th-The Dark Knight!

With over a million dollars in advance ticket sales The Dark Knight is set to break all sorts of records this July 18th weekend and with many theatres adding 3am and 6am screenings to accommodate sold out shows it's sure to do so. Opening with a staggering $66.4 million on Friday The Dark Knight broke Spiderman 3's 2007 record of $59.8 million.

The only thing left is to see whether or not it will beat Spidey's weekend record of $151.1 million dollars. All we can do is wait and see Sunday when the estimated numbers come in.

So far here is this weekends top 5

#1 The Dark Knight $66.4 million

#3 Hancock $4.5 million

#4 Journey to the Center of the Earth $3.5 million

Weekend Box Office June 13th

It wasn't quite a splash but it's still up there. The Incredible Hulk jumps into the #1 spot at the box office this weekend.

Here is a breakdown of this weekends top 5

#1 The Incredible Hulk $55.4 million

#2 Kung Fu Panda $33.6 million

#3 The Happening $30.5 million

#4 You Don't Mess with the Zohan $16.3 million

#5 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull $14.7 million

For the upcoming weekend be sure to check out Get Smart with Anne Hathaway & Steve Carell and The Love Guru starring Mike Myers, Jessica Alba and Justin Timberlake.

Weekend at the Box Office-June 6th

The box office belonged to the kids this weekend with Kung Fu Panda taking the #1 spot from Sex and the City.

Here is the breakdown of this weekends top 5

#1 Kung Fu Panda $60 million

#2 You don't Mess with the Zohan $38.5 million

#3 Indiana Jones and the Curse of the Crystal Skull $23 million

#4 Sex and the City $21 million

#5 The Strangers $9 million

Next weekend lookout for The Incredible Hulk, The Happening and Young People F**king.

From the Small Screen to the Big Screen

Sex and the City fans came out in full force this weekend to see the ladies in theatres. Some speculated that it would be Indiana Jones that would take the #1 spot at the box office for the 2nd week in a row but they were wrong, it was girl power all the way.

Sex and the City racked in an estimated $56.6 million in it's opening weekend to take the #1 spot at the box office. In 2nd place is last weeks #1, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull with $44.7 million. While some analyst are expecting Indiana Jones to return to the top spot for this upcoming weekend I beg to differ. Did they forget that Kung Fu Panda is opening on Friday……I think they did.

Also released Friday was The Strangers, which surprisingly opened in the 3rd spot with $21 million. Finishing the top 5 was Iron Man with $13.5 million and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian with $12.7 million.

Opening Friday we have Kung Fu Panda starring Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen and Dustin Hoffman to name a few. As well as You Don't Mess with the Zohan starring Adam Sandler, John Turturro and Emmanuelle Chriqui.

I have no doubts that Kung Fu Panda will be the king of the box office for the upcoming week and everything else will get lost in the shuffle.
